Music: The Beta Band
Camera: RCA EZ300HD Small Wonder

I mounted my camera using a Gorillapod to the handlebar.

A little shaky.

Any advice on a stronger mount? I think the flex in the head unit of the Gorillapod caused a lot of bounce.

I think the bounce adds a nice effect that goes will with the music.

i think you should try mounting it to your helmet.

you DO wear a helmet, right?

seriously, your head bounces around a LOT less than the bike does.

I do wear a helmet. I dunno about a helmet cam, I think that might look a little TOO ridiculous. I going to the hardware store this weekend to make a firmer mount. I think the head of that GorillaPod had too much bounce.

Could it be because the mount is too firm? I built one that absorbs all the vibration and it worked nicely:

Along with providing the protection the camera needs...

Hmmm, that is nice. A little big for my tastes, and a lot more work for a lazy guy like me. I have a weird form factor camera. Similar to the Flip, it is a vertical rectangle. I started to play with mounting the camera to my chest with the Gorillapod, but still had issues. I kinda gave up as winter sets in here in Portland, it is too dark when I leave and come home to get decent video.

I finally bought a handlebar camera mount, the Pedco UltraClamp from REI, and used it to make my video "To market, to market, to find a bike rack". All of my other videos were made with one hand on the handlebar and one hand holding the camera. The handlebar mount lets me steer much better (and safer), but it's a bit bumpier. The handheld method gives me more freedom to show things I pass along the way, but it's difficult to use any controls while gripping the camera with only one hand (it's a heavy digital still camera). I'll have to try loosening the swivel on the handlebar mount just enough to turn it occasionally without adding too much jiggle.

how does the small wonder do in low light? so far, the flip mino hd shoots the sharpest in low light, but there's a bit of visual noise. the creative vado hd doesn't shoot as sharp as the mino hd in low light, but the picture is beautiful with full colors and very black blacks. i'm really dying to get a pocket hd camcorder because my canon hv20 will not fit in my pocket. it would be great if you could shoot some low light footage, especially some night shots, and upload them.
