Your composition is brilliant Romy, keeping space in the direction the bird is looking. This must be exciting for you to be using an SLR camera in video format.

I am cousin madness from the IPF forums and very much a fan of your work.

Question: What is the maximum length of video you can take with the 5D Mk11? Or is it dependent on the size of the CF card?

    Martin.

    Thanks, folks.

You can take up to about 12 minutes HD video (circa 4 GB) before you have to stop and re-shoot.

Very nice, this camera looks great. However, f/18? Any idea as to what the camera set the ISO at? What does it lock the shutter at, 1/60th?

Hi Tony, it appears that Av and ISO are not user-setable (I had the wrong understanding that the video recording used the Av and ISO set for still photos when in Av-priority mode). I've now corrected the decription of the posted clip to show only the maximum aperture of the lens.

    Ah, thanks for clarifying.

Looks Nice. How did you get your hands on the Mark 2 and when do we get to see more footage? What are your thoughts o nthe Mark 2 as still cam?

The pre-prod camera was loaned to me by Canon Philippines for a couple of days. I hope to do another round of field use if the demo camera becomes available again. As a birder/nature photographer, the 5DM2 as a still camera will allow me prints bigger than 24"x36" when I can get close to my subject (for actions shots, I'll continue to use my 1DM2).

But the clincher for me is the HD video - if a picture can paint a thousand words, a 1920x1080 HD video clip can paint perhaps a billion, with audio as bonus. :)

I'd like to see this done with After Effects pixel motion frame interpolation, or using Twixtor to slow it down.

Any chance you could email me a clip at full-res, un-altered 1080p and I will run it through AE.

    Hi Tom,

Perhaps it's more convenient if you just download Phil's publicly available samples at DPR (where there are some good motions too):

Where are you people getting 5D Mark II's? My dealer said they probably won't come in till next year!
I guess I need to join the Japanese Good Ol' Boys network

Great! I'm glad to see a fellow Filipino doing this kind of stuff. I'm interested in photography too, but i can't afford the equipments i need right now. I'm using a canon body and a Sigma 70-300 mm for my bird and wildlife works.. Hehe. It wasn't that bad though, just kind of short.

Btw, i've been checking your work on pbase. I think you're one of the best photographer out there.
Keep up the good work, Sir.

    Regards, Jun-jun.
