really like the look of the HD, and a good clean edit, bravo jason
  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago
Thank Evan, It was a little scary for me transitioning to H.D. It was tough trying to wean skaters of the look of the VX1000. but once they see how crisp it looks they usually get the picture.
    Thanks for watching.

nice vid... but too bad I'm looking at the same bridge as in the first pic at this moment... and I'm not living in Copenhagen.. or Denmark....
  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago
Yeah all of those places were so fun, it's funny America has the term "land of the free"
but once you go over seas, your actually in the land of the free, there not bothered by such a small thing like skating. Maybe you get kicked out for skating a certain spot, but you don't get treated like you just planted a bomb, or raped and pillaged the town.
I just get so tired of the cops in Los Angeles/US.
Maybe 1 out of 10 is actually a nice person.
    Sorry for the bababling.
    Thanks for watching, Jason
  • martijn j 1 year ago
Well... I don't have the experience of US cops..
What I meant was that the 'erasmusbrug' you see on the pic above is in Rotterdam, Holland.. and not in Denmark... I practically live and work next to that bridge..

Great shots, edit, and skating. I loved it. 1 small critique - there is alot of black at beginning. 34 secs until anything happens is alot to ask of an internet audience.
  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago
You are right, I forgot about that.
SHIT! I might have to change that.

dude, hvx is such an amazing camera. Do you have an extreme fisheye?

Critque: There is to much black in the beggining and most people dont like to wait. Especially people on the internet. Also, your dolly shots are so good, same with the time lapses.

Rate: I give this video a 11/10. such a great video.

I expect much more in the future.

wow that was amazing, i was never really crazy about the look of 16:9 for skating but now im convinced that its the way to go, that back 180 shot in the beginning was insane, you got right in there haha, can't wait to see more!
  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago
I felt the same way about the format, but at the same time was getting boared using the same old camera. I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it...
But I got board and needed a change, the only reason I'd ever want to use another standard def camera again, would be cause there lighter.
    Thanks for watching.

when you do movement during timelapses like in the first fish pan from the sky to the street or after stefan's three flip from the shore out to the windmills, are you moving/and or zooming the camera gradually when its recording or in between intervals? I have been trying this but i can't seem to get it to look how I want...
other than that this edit is rad, and like so many things you have worked on, makes me want to push my filming and try new things
  • Jason Hernandez plus 11 months ago
Id like to say hanks for watching, the moves you are talking about are just simple zooms in between each recorded frame, the interval. I've also done dolly shots as I shoot a time lapse, this one's a little more difficult especially with one person. it's harder to stop the dolly and freeze each recorded frame in between each interval.
    Hope this helps you.
    Thanks again for watching.
    Jason
  • Sam Newman plus 11 months ago

I like you fast montage and do you use something special to ratote camera? Or its just tripod?

Check my latest work from our trip to Israel vimeo.com/2875587
  • Jason Hernandez plus 9 months ago
Dam Im really sorry it's taking me this long to get back to you, I just watched your tour video, it's so nice to see new spot. Israel looks amazing...
The shot you asked about is done with a normal tripod, i just try and move the tripod the same distance in between each frame.
Sometimes it looks like shit, and other times it works out.
I was also wondering about the fish eye you were using, it's not an extreme fish eye from Century, or is it? I feel like I can see more vignetting on your stuff then mine.
It also seems like you get more image.
Another thing who was your hook up In Israel?
Are you from there? it be really rad to take a trip there.
    Thanks for watching
    Jason
  • elisey plus 9 months ago
    Thanks for reply!

About fisheye - this normal century extreme fisheye for hvx200, but my camera hvx200a (wider angle and better matrix), that's why more vignetting.

I'm from Russia (Moscow). I know local pros from Israel and can help you with contacts. My contacts: Facebook: Elisey Gladnikov, e-mail: el@skateboarding.ru. skype: el_clone. my website: skateboarding.ru

  • Your video was awesome. It's too bad DVD's are being replaced by web videos, that was too good.

Im new to hd and I was wondering what your export settings and vimeo settings were? I seem to loose the loose poppy colors and get some grain.

    thanks

    Chrisitan
  • Jason Hernandez plus 8 months ago
    Hey thanks, for the compliments.
I to wish DVD wasnt dying.
But that's the nature of the beast, technology, Youtube, Computers, its' all killing DVD's.
As far as my settings for Vimeo,
I usually export from FCP using DVCPRO 108060i
then in QT I use the setting Vimeo suggest.
The grain, and loss of color, are just what you get using H.264 and the low data rate/ kbits rate.
Hope this helps, Oh and I usually tend to use other filters within FCP to help the final out come.

I love all your videos. soo sick! do you film timelapses with interval recording or do you just film the whole time? they look amazing especially if its interval recording. really good job.

Do you film for Nike now? I love the editing/filming on the Transworld videos. Can't wait to see more of your projects.

    nice one,
