Man, you just translated what was on my mind for several months. I need to speak with you. :)
I already saw those kind of stuff in spectrogram analyser (often used in sonar/acoustics).

Now you can reverse and take some 3d map and create the music ^_^
One thing i'd like to know: Realtime or not?

Love the 'island' effect - The fact that you can 'see' and be 'in' the music.
