Hey, that's pretty good. Did you get the idea form Magnus Engsfors?

    vimeo.com/1668653

    It's a very nice technique.
  • Tobias Martinsson 1 year ago
Yeah but I only used the same technique in one of the scenes.

heck yeah! This video convinced me to get an EX1 with a LETUS extreme adapter...

I'm glad you're one of the few that knows how to use the shutter option properly!

Thanx! All done by me except for the stills taken by Marcus Bergman.
A lot of photoshop, maya and AE :-)

Hmm, cool but kind of seems like you copied this videos effect:

    vimeo.com/1668653
  • David Marx 10 months ago
I kind of agree. The CC, the actor's poses, the particle effect, event the locations are very similar. Great video but Magnus Engsfors definitely deserves a credit.

amazing video! i like how you waited to shoot until the sun was at a certain spot (if i'm right). Was the D90 used to take the still shots? I've always wondered how you did that floating effect
  • Tobias Martinsson 11 months ago
No a Canon was used for the stills. but only because that is what the photographer shoots.

  • Eugenia Loli-Queru plus 1 year ago
The video is better than the song.

Ok! I'll let Form One know that. ;-)

You have some beautiful images in there! Was wondering about 00:22, was that layers composited together in AE or something. How did you do the sun? Knoll Light factory or something? Was he on greenscreen I would love a breakdown on some shots, they look great.
  • Tobias Martinsson 11 months ago
In all performance shoots it's a natural sun. They are only CC'd. We hade work really fast because the sun was in the right place for only ten minutes :-)

GORGEOUS cinematography, my favorite shot is the low angle tracking shot where the sun is just peaking out over the heaps of trash, amazing stuff! The grading is pitch perfect. Did you do any sky replacements in this video? I always have trouble with blowing out the sky but your exposure seems to be perfect for everything in the shot.

this is a carbon copy of the Magnus Engsfors video "Suddenly"!

inspiration is ok. stealing is cheap.
  • Tobias Martinsson 10 months ago
Yeah it sort of is, some parts. But it fitted the song and the mood so perfectly that we couldn't resist it. The technique's are a bit different though in some shoot's. Used real 3d environments, camera mapping and vanish point.
And hey, it seems more people are doing the same thing: youtube.com/watch?v=7NrQ_Qfe174

My god, that other link scared me more than anything. Once he started howling I had to turn it off!

Good work on your part. I would also like to see a breakdown of some kind. I just ordered my Letus Extreme yesterday, I can't wait.

I must admit - as a novice trying to learn how to make much simpler music video's this one completely blew me away AND intimidated me because of it's technicalities (which I admit are beyond my comprehension right now!)
It's amazing what can be done.... Your video shows that.
    Very well done!

Since it's such a rip-off of Magnus Engsfors' masterpiece, half its beauty is gone! Even with all the copying, it didn't look quite as good as 'Suddenly'. Not even close. The raw beauty of that piece and the stylized synchronization with the music blows away all these phony imitations! 'Suddenly' was jaw-dropping! This 1 not so much!

Not trying to condone your work. It's just that when you plagiarize somebody else work and soak in all the praise ladat, the least you could do is credit the guy's name in the description so people don't think you STOLE another man's brainchild... and a BRILLIANT 1 at that. Take care.

I saw a arbetslampa in that studio! A true zero budget killer? Wish i had done this. What a great idea to "fake" the slomo with the morphing...
  • Tobias Martinsson 8 months ago
What arbetslampa? It's all Sun and a photo flash...
  • Pylon Film 8 months ago
I ment the arbeidslampa in your breakdown at the blog. the yellow one at the behind the scenes picture. BTW maybe you would like to check out my video "oslo" there is a similar 3d scene in there.

yeah he copied the effect. but he did it better. took it further. the other one looks like a test of the effect and has no real impact. what he has done here has taken this effect and applied it. it is more than just eye candy in this video....
