This began as a still project. I went back to the spot by the river near the marina and this time I shot with the HV and tried to capture a similar photography style I had on the still project.
I was also trying to achieve a look of layers in camera, by using the flickering light activity & the grass moving with the wind.... and the sky falling into night.

Raynox Macro (the lens comes with a nifty adapter ring which I am able to put on my still camera and get double use - yay) The end shots are with the Canon Telephoto Lens!

Music - Dry Leafs began to fall (seriously- this is how the title is spelled if you want to search it)

Wow really nicely shot! Even though nothing happens it is still compelling to watch...how each shot is different. I love how the harbour in the background is forever blurred-its almost frustrating! Love the music too. :)
  • MariaNYC plus 1 year ago
hahaha it was frustrating to cut because nothing happens - not much drama going on- it's all in the action of the light and how the dry grass abstracts.

This has to be one of your most arresting shorts visually. I think it's fab. The soundtrack REALLY makes this a very haunting piece. With that said, I also see that also the precursor to something much more grandiose/epic in nature.

There is also something about the film noir-ish experience that to me, is begging for this to go B&W. Laugh if you will, but I see the lack of color being an incredible force in this one.

    Great job!
  • MariaNYC plus 1 year ago
Thanks JD, oh not laughing at all, in fact that really gave me an idea to try the macro lens in B/W which I've not thought of doing yet. so thank you, I actually can't wait to try it now.

Ah, yes! I see what you mean, Maria. I like this even better (always a fan of shallow DOF, soft focus and blur!). I particularly like the light reflections on water.
