This is the project I have been working on for a couple months now, on and off. It started out as just one piece, the middle section, and the other two sections eventually got added as well. I then had to figure out how I was going to have them transition from one to the next.

I started out in realflow, worked my way through maya, and into after effects to get the final result.

The song was chosen at the very end, I just happened to play a song in my library as I was looking at the animation and it fit too well to pass up. The song is called The Rift, by Ween, check 'em out. I recommend watching it with no sound as well, or whatever you feel like listening to.
