Spanish Ladies Medley
This is the opening track on Dave Swarbrick & Martin Carthy's 1967 classic album "Rags, Reels & Airs". Swarbrick took two traditional polkas - "Spanish Ladies" and "Leather Away The Wattle O" - and gave them a good shaking. I've tried to capture the spirit of that performance.
I recorded the mandolin first and then put my own guitar chords to the tunes, using a "boom-chick" thumb and three finger alternating style. This emphasises the running bass line and doesn't get in the way of the mandolin.
You can get the full music for this - mandolin score & tab, guitar score & tab, and chords - from my website.
