Thanks. However, I fail to see why buy this Flip-like device, when you can buy the Z-series Kodak cameras for $120 (refurbished) that actually have better quality, couple as digital cameras and have full manual control to still pics. To me, the Flip and the Zi6 don't make much sense.
  • I take the Zi6 and the Flip Mino HD pretty seriously actually.

can you point me to some video samples of the Z-series Kodak cameras on vimeo?...Thanks
  • Click that "Zi6" link on the left hand of this page under the "tags" deal. It will show you all the zi6 videos on here. Some are awesome, some look like hell.

  • This one is a good example of the Zi6 though. I like the comps.

After seeing various tests here on VIMEO I really like the way the color pops and the superior sound of the Kodak over the Flip Mino HD. It's great having a little camcorder in your shirtpocket. You just accept the limitations.

  • Nice man! I too was obsessed with this little thing. HD, fits in your pocket and under $200! But then I started reading reviews about the Panasonic DMC-LX3 & DMC-FX150. The LX3 is getting 4 & 5 star reviews across the board. It's not too big either. HD pics & vids that are higher quality! Costs more, but I think I'll put my patience to the test, save my money & get one. These little Zi6's and Flip Mino HD's are still kinda' cool though, especially if you don't want to spend much. I want something rather than my HV20, for an "on the go" kinda' thing. Have fun with your new toy man! Can't wait to get mine!

In general (IMO), beginning with the original Flip, pocket camcorders have been highly underrated by purists. Admittedly, you're not going to use one to record special events such as weddings, births, etc if there are better options available to you. But the pocket cams are so much more portable, so you can have them with you much (all?) of the time. So not only do they get used a lot more often than the "big dog" cams simply b/c people have them with them, but they really do produce pretty good videos, too!

My first one was a Flip Ultra, which has produced some video clips comparable to clips I've made with my $1000 Sony Hi-8. I still love the Flip but recently got a Zi6 b/c I wanted something that would use SD cards, in case I wanted to record more than an hour & didn't have access to offloading the footage to a computer.
