My family recently grew by more than one when my wife and I adopted a son. I am amazed at how 1+1+1 is greater than 3.

Music: "Brothers and Sisters" from the Free to be album.
Length: 1:39

[BTW: it was a sunny day and I went a little heavy on the sunscreen]

Aww, I second that. For a second there, I thought you spiked his hair up, but instead, it's only the breeze.

His hair was perpetually spiked until recently. It is a distinct trait of his hair when short. We've cut it twice already but tried to allow the top to grow out and finally it started laying down.

Your family story is cool. Congratulations on your son. Mine turns 13 this year...we started real young...amazing how fast time flies. enjoy these younger years as they are truly amazing.

Our work schedules are such we don't need to have any daycare. And if he does get sick we don't have to miss work usually because one of us is already there with him.

That makes for some great time together.

Aaaw :))) Your son reminds me of my little brother, my parents adopted him 20 years ago..He was born in Colombia. Enjoy those wonderful moments !! He's very very cute :)))))

Have any pics or videos to share? :) The layering of meaning and significance from childhood and parenting when having a child is transforming. I love shared family stories. I guess there is a recent project suggestion up, which I'll have to try and partake in (when I have the time).

Oh, I guess I don't have enough material to share pics or vids...My mom's got them all.:-D I should try to get some of them back though. I'll look up for the project, I love family stories too :)

I've got a followup video (yet being formulated) that I think really talks about the children who just want to be able to play, laugh and have someone listen to them.

For anyone considering having children in their life, adoption is a wonderful choice to share your love and life with someone who needs home.

Very cool story. I came from among 7, and it was a great experience. I have a niece adopted from China, we love having her in our family. Thanks for drawing attention to family themes.

Diversity in family, friends and experience enriches one's life. Thanks for your nice comment. With so many young whippersnappers among vimeo I love to contribute meaningful additions to the conversation.

I'm only 34 and it appears to be about mid-twentysomething as the mean age of vimeans. There's a lot of freedom and fun with fewer obligations at that age. Live it up 20-somethings!

Ditto on 34. There are rich things about being settled and juggling family with creative pursuits. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, but you are right, it is outside the norm.

i was wondering why he looked like relatives on my mothers side? I am half Guatemalan and the hair spiky thing almost never goes away my 45 year old uncle still has his hair the same way as your son.

i am from a family of 4. three boys and my sister who is adopted. my parents brought her over when she was 9. she is 30 now and we have to be reminded that she is adopted. she's Guatemalan and looks just like the rest of us... Poor girl.. lol

    Congratulations on the adoption

    :)

His hair started to lay down a little as its grown out. But yeah, he is going to always have that issue when he gets his hair cut.

Thanks for the nice comments. Who was the youngest in your family?
  • Tamma Strongbear 1 year ago
one of my brothers is the youngest. my sis is number 3 and i am the oldest. all of us are really close and we constantly pick on each other well we don't really pick on my sister much. we just all give her bear hugs and chase her around yelling "but we love you we want to give you a lot of hugs and kisses." sometimes it looks like a benny hill routine. but when she gets mad we don't mess with her. she may be 4foot 10 but she's tough.

A great way to be raised is by older sisters. I was raised by four. My parents helped too.
