68. Someone Elses Home Movies
I love watching other people's home movies.

So aside from editing together documentaries, when I have time I enjoy restoring and archiving old films onto DVD for friends, family, friends of friends, friends of friends that have family that don't know about them stealing their old movies and putting it in the hands of someone that loves putting music to things that don't really WANT that kind of music.

This is sort of a "My Work Today" entry because in fact this happened while working today.

enjoy!

(note: no editing. Just movie and music, it fits, word.)

EDIT:
Ok i lied there is ONE edit. the "Devil Devil" part with the kid's head glitching.

Who is this music - Edan, the humble magnificent w/ Dagha. Off the Beauty and the Beat album.

The music makes the family film so much more bad ass! Maybe I should tell my parents to try this with their old videos of me in my Voltron costume.

voltron costume? which one, the lions or the cars? or the elusive gladiator?
  • Jared Moran 2 years ago
i think you just blew my mind with the elusive gladiator.

That baby is probably 30+ years old now. Looks like super-8? Which would put it in about my age range. You probably have the recent stuff, too.

Cool job, do you freelance or is this a company?
  • Ian Lucero plus 2 years ago
    looks like super8.

all the film i got is all mixed up, badly labeled, and so i'm just basically archiving and putting some music on them to fit the mood. There is no order for the DVD menu.

    I freelance.

Oh man... I should get you my dad's old footy. They used to make some pretty tight adventure films with a super8... Serious

Message me if you're interested. Ignore me forever if not

So you have to telecine them first?
  • Ian Lucero plus 2 years ago
    absolutely.
  • Ian Lucero plus 2 years ago
but also as you can see the quality is So So. I wish I had the same set-up I had for doing "OK" ghetto telecine where a make-shift GL1/8mm Projector/Diopter Lens/G4 Tower Running FCP 2.0 all worked together seamlessly to take a picture of each frame and put it all together. But instead I have a regular ghetto set-up of 8mm projector, white wall, and a dvx100a camera (ok the dvx part isn't ghetto) shooting what is being projected on the wall. It works but it isn't what I'd like to be using. Although it is a lot easier to set-up for sure.

Cool. There is just something about watching videos that are not for mass consumption.
