Crazy things happening: this is on the PSM channel, but not on your part of Vimeo???
You got us all wondering what's coming next

I don't know what's coming next.... this initial test clip worked well enough to tell me I should keep going.

I'll include a story file in it.

That's kinda cute and watching it in full screen reveals a little more clearly how you've hidden the animation behind the timeline.

Quite creative and a nice job.

But, you now have me wondering if the PSM Channel url is hidden back there as well. And if so, no chance you are coersing Vimeo into including hotspots. ;-)

    Hi Ted... thanks.

I don't know what I'm doing with it yet. One goal is to somehow include a story for or from PSM. I'm setting up a projector and screen to show the story on it. Is it OK to use one of yours instead of mine? The mouse or mice can run around the room and be added to the story, a bit of each.

The higher level goal is to have fun and learn from it.... as usual.

I tried a file once with a 'trigger' that opens my website at the end of it.... to see if it went along for the ride from the wmv file (in which I added it) to Vimeo's flash file... it didn't. That left it only working in a copy of the downloaded original wmv.

Go ahead John, feel free to use anything you wish that I've uploaded.

Our goal is to learn from it as well.

Sorry guys, but I cannot follow this high level technical discussion any more .
    I am lost ...

Bernadette is going to have you put away, John! I'm with John L.--I don't understand a word you guys are saying--but this clip is pure fun and I'm dying to see where you go with it.

Thanks Ted... I downloaded your PS3 story about Hawaii and your video 'Bugs and Debbie Green'. I'll use some clips from each.

'lost' John and 'don't understand a word' Ray - all too usual reactions to things I put online... :)

OK... the trailer has been replaced by the released 3 minutes of fun.

I just checked out your latest revision. Fabulous job, but bring out those mouse traps. LOL.

I was looking for your upload file couldn't find it. I was going to download it and view the original.

By the way John, what software did you use to incorporate the animation. I was thinking Shockwave Flash, but I don't think Vimeo supports .swf files.

Thanks Ted. I changed the vimeo setting from ultra private to fully public.... the download option should kick in.

It's my usual, a Movie Maker 2.1 production to a wmv file.... using lots of blue-screening to add the animations.

Here's a link to get your personal mouse... papajohn.org/Downloads/aeromouse.exe

I'm revving the flick again to add a little closing clip...

    Thanks John for the links.

Is this the same furry friend you used in your animations:

    glassworks.co.uk/videos/aero_kiosk.mov

I noticed the mice in your clip propagate much faster than using the AeroMouse.exe program and the descending Aero bar ad has been removed. Just wondering if you used selective captures and copied them to create the effects.

And many thanks for the link to the wmv file.

    Ted

Yup, the same one but a richer cousin, one who gets the big bucks for being in professional ads. I used the free one from my download link.

I captured mouse clips with the Microsoft Encoder as it moved across a blue background (Microsoft Paint colored plain blue - 255). From there it was into Movie Maker using 'standard' (custom xml) bluescreen transitions and a number of passes to propogate the litter.

Real nice job and you sure created interesting effects. I'll keep my eyes open for more to come.

    And thanks again.

OK, John, thanks to you my cat clawed the bejabbers out of my computer--I think you owe me.
  • PapaJohn plus 9 months ago
Sorry about that... see Ted... maybe your cat was after his videos and lured by the great music.

LOL, Sorry Ray but ‘twas those dang mice that our good friend John turned loose in his studio. Now he's even breeding them with the help of that ‘blue’ screen…....

Now the video is infected. I gotta find a way to exterminate them. I’ll have to call pest control......... :-)

But John, it is quite creative and must say I liked.

I think I remember seeing a comment some time ago about the projector you are using. I went looking for it but couldn’t find the post. Just wonder if you can refresh my memory as to the projector software you've used.
  • PapaJohn plus 9 months ago
The projector is the effect appropriately named 'Projector' in the Adorage #5 pack for Movie Maker released in Nov 08.

I'm glad you like it as it has your name all over it.

Hey John, I like it primarily for your creative effort in pulling this together. There are quite a few steps and would be great material for a tutorial some time.

BTW, I embedded your video in a simple web page and posted a link to it in a forum I moderate. Gonna have a bit of fun with it over there too. Hope that was OK with you. If not I'll remove it.

To catch attention I entitled the thread:

PapaJohn Up To Some Devilment - Another Mashup.

I didn't leave it hanging at that, I described your qualifications in the first post.

I noticed you were working late last night, possibly on this one. And when I saw your video this morning, this song came to mind:

    youtube.com/watch?v=jyvaIH6RlNQ

You may recall it from the 60's

Oh yeah, Looking for another mashup soon. ;-)
  •
  • PapaJohn plus 9 months ago
Yup, it sounds just like it did when I last heard it, probably in the 60's... it's amazing how our memory for music is so much better than for many other things, even those that weren't our favorites.

Use the clip any way you wish... with your clips in it, I consider it as much yours as mine.

Yes, that's what I was doing last night until about 4:30am, a bit later than usual going to bed as the mice mash kept me up.

I'd do a tutorial if I was still doing newsletters, but with the website and writing for Bright Hub I'll probably pass on it, at least in the short run. I'm leaning more these days to website maintenance combined with making vids like this one that inspire and teach by example, followed by passing the 'how-to' along to anyone who asks.
