I first started vlogging in 1989, before blogging or vlogging were invented. Over the course of the next 15 years or so, I used to film myself talking to camera regularly. In 1991 I set up a camera at the end of the hospital bed to film the birth of my second baby, in 1995 I set up a camera at the back of the venue to film my band Venus Tree performing at a benefits gig in Sheffield, and in 1996 I filmed me breastfeeding my son. I nearly filmed myself doing a strip-tease, aged 28 in 1987, when I still looked pretty hot, but chickened out and instead filmed an off the cuff interview with the girl who lived in the flat above me, which turned out to be a lot duller than me doing a strip-tease for posterity, but far less scary.

I learnt the hard way, if you fear, you lose.

This first vlog is a bit self-conscious because I haven't vlogged for years, but I'll relax into it with the next one...
