I'm so glad that you joined Vimeo, Kyle.

Obviously they support the footage that you shoot.

You need to show the kids what you have been already doing for years.

This is a beautiful and nostalgic short. You kinda have to remind yourself it's a collection of real shots and real people, such is the perfection of some of the shots and dialogue. Like watching a real-life Dawson's Creek (but without the nausea) :)

    Kyle,

Nothing said on this page can describe what you created with this collage of memories and emotions. The moods evoked here are comparable to Richard Linklater's "Slacker." Yet there is no pretension here; the psuedo-intellectuals are non-existent.

Theories are not presented here in the traditional format of show and tell, but shown as vignettes, shown through the candid interactions with the people and cities of this trite, yet enigmatic country. I hope to see your work displayed in lights at Cannes, Venice and all of the elitist ceremonies that glorify the work of genius.

    best regards,
    ray
  • Kyle Fasanella plus 2 years ago
Thank you. Its an honor to be put on the same page as slacker. I can only wish that someday this will be shown to large audiences.

this video is absolutely incredible. fantastic job.
what kind of camera did you use? i mean it looks like you had a special lens that did a lot for the depth of field..

also, great music. which modest mouse song was that? and what was the song at the very end?
  • Kyle Fasanella plus 1 year ago
thank you. i used a sony z1U, with some still image lenes. modest mouse - lives, weakerthans. paphater
  •
  • That was great. My favorite part of the piece is that you maintained almost constant movement. The camera was going somewhere, and often not the direction that was expected.

Nostalgic, yes. However, there was also this sense of foreboding that came with it, like what's around the bend will change everything. I guess that's exactly what it was supposed to mean.

Although this was uploaded a year ago, I just saw it for the first time today. MAN this brought out so many emotions. I could immediately relate to the Chicago footage because I make a point to head there a few times a year with friends.

Overall you've done what I have been hoping to do for a long time--gather my memories and present them with such cinematic quality that it seems like you lived a dream.

I love that most all of this was handheld with light available wherever you were and only on-cam audio with music behind it. This was amazing!
