I-Movix is just finishing development of v3 sprintcam.
Based on a photron SA-2 camera, system is providing realtime HD-SDI output. Sensor is a 12bit CMOS of 2048 pixels wide, and speed can vary up to 2500fps.

Now, take a look at these sample shots, it's just amazing!
Source file download is available and recommended, as picture is far better than online flash encoding...

Enjoy,

Dave

edit : there are some more shots done with this crazy camera : vimeo.com/4167288

Per chance stumbled upon this site. amazing time-lapses!
Just got into making one myself for a project of the building of a new museum. I use an ordinary canon powershot camera for that, which give me superb quality.
Keep making more of these beautiful shots.

How much $$ for this toy?
  • David Coiffier plus 8 months ago
Enough to consider renting it rather than buying :/
But that's the way it works with pro gear.
I have no exact pricing, but for sure, over 100k $...

Great camera! What is the slightly soft vignette around the footage shot in the stadium? Was it caused by the Fujinon lens? I don't see them on the jelly and other sequences.
  • David Coiffier plus 7 months ago
    Hey Michael,

You're right about that vignette. Effect is not so slight, and is prolly due to Fujinon optic misalignment, but I'm not sure. I told Laurent Renard that this has to fixed quickly, cause it's kind of a shame on such a camera. Whatever it is, it is optical. I'm pretty confident about this.
That said, stadium pix are were shot at worst optical setting : wide open iris, maximum zoom course (x62 I think), so dof is paper thick, and defects prone to be seen...

The jelly and green thing were shot close up with photo lens, that's why image is really clear on those.
Anyway, you can mount about every kind of lens : Nikon mount, M42, HD broadcast, 35mm, etc...

    Hi David,

Thanks for the info! We've been talking to the distributor in Beijing and hopefully we can be be a rental / sales representative for Sprintcam in the Hong Kong and Macau region.

Please check out our web site at slomoexpress.com. We have been renting our Speedcam's in the region since 2003.
  • Michael Chu 6 months ago
    Hi David,

We have just done a test shoot in Beijing with the V2 Sprintcam. I would like to know if the sequence from your v3 sample shots were direct HDSDI output in the field or if they came from the saved TIFF image format?
The quality of your samples are awfully better than the instant replay HDSDI outputs in our test ....
