UIC GEO Statement of Support:
"We, the members of the GEO, AFT Local 6297, support the SEIU Local 73 (clerical, administrative, and technical workers at UIC) and its Chapter 119 (food services and building maintenance workers at UIUC). We value their many crucial contributions to our universities, without which the university would cease to function. They have a right to a fair union contract ensuring just compensation, job security, salary grade equity, and fair step increases. We therefore encourage the university to negotiate fairly and in good faith with SEIU Local 73, and encourage our members not to cross SEIU picket lines in the event of a strike. UIC is a union campus, and we applaud the SEIU for their contribution to the continuous struggle for the rights of all workers on campus."
