Joel Eckhaus was the first guest of three on the show this "Black Friday" (Nov 23rd) . Joel is a longtime performer playing the Ukulele and saws under various monikers he is also a very creative and well respected luthier.
Joel and five or so other performers are doing a vaudvillian-style "Leftover Turkey Variety Show" both in Portland and Buckfield, Maine Fri and Sat nights.
A show whose genesis some 25 years ago was in the minds of a group of world class performers post "turkey-day" and the now tradition has evolved among these artists who continue to reside here in Maine.
Joel is among them, btw; if you are in the market for an exceptionally crafted Ukulele he's the man.

Yes Ed Joel may come back soon he was on for just a couple of songs (supporting the "Leftover Turkey Variety Show") one tune he played on the Saw ( a Christmas tune)
maybe I can post that in the files section of the us Folk Channel. Joel is a great musical fixture here in southern Maine he is the guy who introduced me to the great Aussie Ukulele maestro Azo Bell among others.

I love this to pieces. I'm researching Ukuleles because I'm trying to get one for my birthday. I can't decide what size to get. I"ve been looking at the Tenor size.

    What's he playing there?

Hi Charlie, He's the guy to talk to,
he makes them and can talk "Uke" speak to the best of them,
Joel is quite the luthier and is a regular playing out in Maine
    --read about Joel here; uketalk.com/interviews/joele.html
and visit his site he is a completely cool guy and makes great ukes etc = earnestinstruments.com/ He plays 'Saw" too!

I would start with a concert, then when you're hooked get the tenor for portability.
