Haworth is very steep. It looks great on photos and videos, but best to be physically fit to live there. I'm using this clip to check out HDTVs. It has a good selection of 'faults' like too fast panning, which some TVs mask very well and others highlight. Should be posting some footage of Hebden Bridge soon, which is similar visually but has flat areas and canals.

Nice scenery.
Indeed a bit jerky, the download is much better though at 25fps.

I'm thinking the file for download may be identical to my original uploaded mp4 file, whereas the on-screen is in the flash/shockwave format Vimeo uses.

Yes the file for download is the original uploaded file. At least in this case the vimeo playback seems at lower framerate than the original.

Any idea how the vimeo screen version can be captured and analysed to see where the framrate problem is? Is it a 25/50 vs 60/24 problem?

No. Maybe fraps under windows shows more? Or maybe you could post this question in the general vimeo discussion forum.

Looks like you get around Yorkshire quite a bit. Perhaps you could also post some to itvlocal/yorkshire ? Their Your News has an upload facility and from there they can be included in the Local Life section. Mark.
