Inspired by the endless hours I have spent writing countless reports, this is a little montage of how I work.

Edit: The flash convertor seems to have screwed up the timing a bit

This is exactly the process I'm going through right now to write my incredibly short artist statement, which is the same process I went through when I had to write my lab report last week. It's crazy, this repetitious life.

Wow, cheers guys. It took a lot longer to edit than it did to film, but obviously it was worth it!

Also, having short hair, I don't normally wear a towel and I found it quite difficult working out how to put it on. That alone set me back half an hour!

Bravo man!! Good stuff, yes very good videography ;)! I understand the "it took longer to edit than to film", oh do I. I'll spend 5 hours on something, perfecting it, and its like 2 minutes. And as for writing all the reports, try writing them while you are destroying something or setting something on fire ;)... like the report! BRAVO!!!!

that was really good! I could relate totally.

This is an all around great video Buck!!! I think we've all been there.

Five sisters taught me all there is to know about wrapping towels around your head. I use a squeegee to dry my top nowadays.

Editing Time: In Public Access Cable many moons ago before NLE, they told us to expect 1 hour of editing time for every 30sec of final footage, that was with 3 studio cameras. :) The "commercials" I posted, "Ticklebot 3000", "Nothing Good for Breakfast", "Sleep Laser", "Dinner in Winter" were written and shot on the fly in the space of 2 hours. It took me about 18 hours, spaced over several nights of course, to edit all four clips and get them down to ~30sec each. It was a great exercise. I'm getting faster. My last two clips, took ~2 hours each from idea to export.

It's the "leather" pants. They help you go faster.

i usually just ingest something illegal or controlled and free associate. it always got me A's.

    ...and a Fulbright
  • dalas verdugo 1 year ago
    Exactly!

  • Buck Flashroy 2 years ago
Ah, you see Charlie, thats where I am lacking. I only have four sisters, obviously not enough to learn how to wrap a towel.

Its good to know that other people take a long time editing, and it's not just because I'm crap. Or maybe it is a little. This film is 2 minutes long and took me about 6 hours to edit!

And Dalas, that would be cool if I could do that too, but Im doing Engineering, so if they ask about Maxwell's equations and I wrote "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if I could fly AND be invisible", I might not quite get an A... Unless the examiners had also ingested something illegal!

Absolutely excellent, after 7 years of University I totally understand.
I miss Uni, I was like Van Wilder, well Van Wilder without the abs, cash and Indian manservant.

There is one stage that you missed out. The final, final stage when procrastination has you by the balls and your deadline is the next day. You have to rush the last 500 words by padding, waffling and the ingenious use of subtle plagiarism.

I remember this was one of the very first vimeo clips I watched. I didn't yet understand the "like it" or back then "dig" button.
I totally dug it when I watched it the first time, and now I totally like it.

I thought I had given this a "Like It" ages ago.

First time seeing this! It's cool to go and look at older clips people have made. This was really cool, and I could totally relate to this paper-writing BS!!!!Arghhh!!
  • Buck Flashroy 1 year ago
It's a little wierd for me people just seeing this. I made it over a year ago so haven't had any activity on it for a while, and now in the last couple of days 9 or 10 new people have seen it! I love it when that happens!

    some great comic timing
    and a neat story
jump cuts work really well with the right music and the right humour
and (having limited yourself to exactly the same framing, setting and character throughout) an excellent variety of content/lighting/etc
    nicely done
