Canon HG10: Snow Mode
Yesterday I picked up a Canon HG10. A few days ago I had a Panasonic HDC-SD5. I quickly learned that the Canon is a much better choice with its overall performance and bigger storage.
This morning we woke up to about 6" of snow which gave me a perfect opportunity to check out the snow mode on the Canon.

it looks to me like the snow mode simply blows out the whites/highlights.....who would want that?
in auto, i could see the detail, texture and shading in the snow drifts. but in snow, the snow drifts are almost solid white with no depth at all. there's no contrast.
what the heck is the point of having a feature like this? what good is it?
