System Setup + Loop Consolidation as well.

If you are new to SevenUpLive. This is the first video to watch.

NOTE: The latest OS X distribution posted here
makingthenoise.com/sevenup/
Uses an improved template that has the IAC ports preconfigured. You still need to create IAC ports 1-5 on the mac via the instructions in the video, but it is much easier to get started now. Windows users already had this benefit before.

thanks ! i've got a external soundcard to plug some instrument and it works well in live with some vsts. do you know if it possible to record my guitar in live (the app) and loop it directly in live (the noun) into 7uplive?

    cheers

You can use any audio track to capture a loop. You can record arm a track in session view and midi map to the "record" circle in the clip slot and the stop clip button. Or in Live 8 there is "Looper" which is meant for overdubbing loops. If you capture a loop at the same BPM as your set then no need to consolidate and you can drag it into a 7up loop set. Although it does require a mouse action to do so.

    @ bar.
do I need to purchase ableton?
to run ableton and or save anything via live, I need a serial code. again, don't have a monome, but getting prepared beforehand. by the way, mad props.
    cheers.

You can demo Ableton Live, but yeah you won't be able to save without purchasing it. Not to discourage you at all but when you get your monome, try some other simpler apps first that run in MAX (free runtime) like Polygome, mlr etc. If you've never used Ableton before you will have that learning curve as well. Worth it in the long run though.

um. so in the meantime, get familiar with mlr, and or other apps on monome docs, and going forward, purchase ableton, I understand. BUT! in the meantime, I have downloaded inordinate templates, such as max, monomeserial, miniaudicle, sevenupliveosxv1.1. and sevenup. again, not to frustrate you and or myself (although, I'm frustrated, coz I don't even have my monome, but working hard to get the proper tools beforehand) should I go ahead and delete everything doc via download and wait until I get my monome?
many thanks for all your hard work. it's much appreciated!

the monome serial thing is a preferences file problem.. two things you should do:

    1) delete the file ~/Library/Preferences/MonomeSerialPrefs
    2) upgrade to 0.20

thanks for the tutorial. i just got live... gonna see how this works out =)

Awesome, now I've gotten responses to all my secret encoded messages in the video. I think the link at the top of the Monomeserial thread pointing to .18L should be replaced since it's hard to find which version is the best to download. 2.0 did seem to fix it and has some nice improvements. Thx.

the documentation for sevenup should also include that you need to check the box "Device is online" inside the IAC driver preference window in Audio Midi Setup.

minor detail, but without it, Live wasn't listing my IAC drivers in the midi/sync menu.

New to 7up... How come just on loading another wav to sound No1 in looper and I can not juggle on the loop any more? Slice mode and I hear only 1rst pos of the loop on each row... strange ? Need help!
  • bar|none plus 2 months ago
Most likely you dragged the sound onto the pad and not into the Sampler window which replaced the mapping on the pad. Might start again with new template. Also, post any questions to the monome forum as it's much easier to give detailed responses there.

    Hey.

I'm having a bit of trouble with this. basically everything is set up as shown in the tutorial.
however. when I press play in ableton, 7up doesn't sequence through the LED's ( ie in stepper mode)

what I am doing wrong. I have all IAC's ready and the momomeserial running and all channels are OK.

one thing. I don't have electric or analog. could this be the problem?

    great app by the way.
