Bravo, Stan. A fine - and even brave - look at Raymond. I will continue to make my electronic music course students aware of his contributions and his unusual genious.

At long last!!!... a tribute to one of the great minds of the 20th century! Bravo to Stan, and good luck! Every time I look at Raymond Scott I learn something new, and am usually stunned. Its wonderful to see that more of the world will soon learn about this remarkable fellow. Now, how about a book?!!!

I still like looking at documentaries, especially, about people I know little or nothing about. Also, I now know something about you that I didn't know.

  • Hi! What is the song in the end of this trailer? So very beautiful and dreamy

Hi Christian--Thanks for your comment. The tune at the end of the Trailer is titled "Little Miss Echo" from one of the Soothing Sounds For Babies albums originally released by Epic records on vinyl in the early 1960's--the one for "babies" 12-18 months--though of course these albums have now been re-released by Basta on CD for listening by the young at heart of all ages. As you might expect, it's my favorite creation on those albums, though there are many that I love. The CD's are available directly from raymondscott.com, or Amazon.com.
  • Thanks a lot Stan!

Wow! since the video was posted as a Staff Favorite last Thursday (thanks again to Dalas Verdugo) , I've had an incredible number of views. Thanks to all who have had a look and all who have commented. I'll try and respond individually but am also very busy editing so may not get to everyone. But please know that your support and encouragement are very much appreciated.

This is really great! My only suggestion is to add a tad bit more dynamic range compression to the audio so the volume levels in the cuts are closer. The content is really interesting. What a talented guy.

Thanks for your comments. The audio on the trailer is most definitely a rough mix, right out of my Avid editing system--there's no compression, gating etc., applied, though I did do a little bit of EQ where there was some low end BG. I've tried to keep the levels consistent, but guess I could have done better! I'm definitely not a sound engineer and have tremendous respect for those who are. For the final I'm definitely going to have a professional mix job and all the audio will be optimized in every way that makes sense.

  • I've been a fan of your dads works for most of my life.
Thank you for your efforts to enlighten today's audiences to your father's work. If you need any help locating footage, let me know...

  • Ah, it's so nice to come across content like this. I became enamored with music from the Raymond Scott Project and didn't know much about it's creator besides the wonderful cartoon music. So wow this is very enlightening.

I look forward to seeing the completed work. As with the Billy Strayhorn documentary "Lush Life" --which I adore--this this will another needed insight into what I'd imagine is an under celebrated master.

I have posted under my Vimeo username clips of a vaudevillian influenced musical act I perform that does some anachronistic experiments with early 20th century popular music elements you may enjoy.

    Best wishes with your project.
