It was late, we were out of coffee for the next morning. I can't have that - so, off to the store to get some Peet's coffee. This is a 33 second version of what transpired.

I've come to the conclusion that you spend a lot of time at Albertson's. ;-)

Too much time. Going to the grocery store bugs me - if I bring my camera, it's fun.

    For you.

For them it's like "Oh great... Here comes the nutcase that puts his camera on the checkout belt." ;-)

I enjoy stuff like this, though. Everyone's trying to make the next great artsy fartsy movie and you're just a regular guy with a nice camera taking some video (I swear I mean that in a much nicer way than it sounds).

Yeah, checkout girl thought it was a little strange - that's part of the fun. Thanks bro, glad you're pickin' up what I am puttin' down.

ha ha. i love that you put the camera on the belt :) peet's must be good if you dissed starbucks. i don't think i can get it in georgia ..

Peet's is amazing coffee - tea too. Starbuck's by comparison is harsh and bitter. If you like coffee, buy some at their website - anything off the best seller list is solid as a rock.

Most people don't know that Alfred Peet shared his roasting techniques with the founders of Starbuck's.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Peet

Peet is labeled as "the Dutchman who taught America how to drink coffee."

Last time I was in an Albertson's they didn't have Peets coffee. That's not a bad grocery store coffee at all. Access to good coffee is essential.

In my opinion, Peet's is the finest coffee available. It's a bonus that Albertson's keeps it stocked.

I love Peet's, had read all about em and was dying for a cup. I had a one hour layover in cali and thought "fuck it", ran out of the airport and ran down the line asking drivers if they knew where the Peet's was. Eventually found one who drove a pretty good distance with the ocean in view. Pulled up in front of Peets and jumped out, got my cup, jumped back in the taxi. Lit a cigarette, breathed in my coffee, and took a good deep sip while looking out at the waves. I glanced at the meeter which was already $50.00 bucks and then turned back towards the ocean. Took another drag off of my cigarette, took a sip of my Peet's and I felt my smile as I thought "If this aint worth it, what is?" I coulda been miserable in an airport for an hour and here I was scooting by the coast with a smoke, a cup of joe, enjoying the air and the scenery and i was completely at peace, satiated. Sometimes life's just good like that.

Nice! That's what I am talkin' about!! Layovers FAIL.

As soon as I read "ran out of the airport", I heard the 007 theme begin in my head... duh-duh da-da-duh-duh da-da-duh da-da-duuuuhhhh-da-da-duuuuuhhh.

Your story made my morning, Ray. Rock on.
