This is a simple tutorial on how to create masks in iMovie 08 using png images created in photoshop. Essentially, iMovie is tricked into thinking the png image is standard text with an alpha layer.

I wonder is there a way to "blur" out a face or mask it in imovie 08? Can you "trick" it to do this? I would suspect only for limited movement faces in a given clip. Create a black circle mask like in the local news? preferable a blur would be better...

Are you recording the video under your blanket with a little flashlight in one hand? Is the killer right outside? Angry missus? In that case I'm glad you're making as little sound as possible :)

In iMovie 09's settings, activate the "Enhanced Tools" to see the different options to paste/place a graphic onto the video layer, before/while dragging and dropping.

I have been searching all over the web for this trick! All the other content seemed to leave out the PNG part! SO THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
