17. Lightning Strikes on the John Hancock Building
2 years ago
Before I headed out for the night I put a camera in the window and let it record the storm that was going on. Came home and skimmed the hour long tape for the significant strikes and edited them together.

Cool, looks like they can run the building on the electricity from the lighting strikes

Wow, really nice. That storm passed over my house an hour or two earlier, I'd guess. Nice view!

    That was sweet.

I had an awesome storm this past summer that had so many strikes but I took pictures mostly and only a couple of minutes of video and later I was kicking myself.

really cool idea.... would have been nice to see you cut each lightning strike in conjunction with specific beats or patterns in the song (or maybe even some slow motion). though i suppose you still could re-edit the video if you wanted to; it's still really cool.
  • Craig Shimala plus 2 years ago
The next storm I film I will do some beat matching. I just didn't have the time to really get into this one.

wowow, dangerous place is the last floor from that building
If they could store that electricity somewhere, they should have power for the rest of the year by now.
Very cool, never saw anything like that before

P.S. Don't change a thing about it! No re-editing is necessary.

I like how some of the lightning illuminates the foreground and some the background. Really gives a sense of depth.

Impressing. We should find a way to capture all this electricity and get rid of oil...

I miss those awesome storms that would sweep in off the lake, and rub the sky against all that concrete and steel.

Amazing how often it strikes. Amazing the amount of power - simply an amazing video, really. Considering the dry thunderstorm we had here last i'm glad I wasn't hundreds of yards up in the sky but miles away, only three stories up - enjoying the spectacle on the horizon. Excellent.
