I decided to try this again with a wide range of clips of different things and different speeds.

It's about pefectly shot between my HDR-HC3 & HV20.I just re-captured some clips I knew had some action.

Just a note: the timeline should be what the original footage is. For example, the fresh out of the camera footage is 1440x1080, and this is how the project properties should be setup too. Then, you can render that out as 720p, and then you can create a new project that's 720p. The rule of thumb is that the project properties should mirror the footage each time, regardless of how you export.

    Thanks Eugenia,
What happened was I tried making a 60P 1440x1080 clip and like the many times I had tried it before it wouldn't play in any media player . So I tried a 720P yesterday and it wouldn't play but then I realized it most likely would work in Vegas. So since I had deleted the ones that didn't play but would have worked I used the 720P version. I will make sure next time I use a 1440x1080 60p. Thanks

the shot of the dune buggy is amazing at 00:48! high shutter speed i assume there right? to catch all that dirt flying in high speed like that. awesome job.

    Thanks Mark,
Off the top of my head The dunebuggy, fireworks, expoding dummy head, and Jeep were shot with the HC3 and the motorcycle, yellow bug, stink bug, and water drops were the HV20.

So that shot was probably shot around 1/400 or lower .That is the highest shutter speed I have seen the My HC3 use but that is just a guess.

The scene of the dune buggy gives me approximately 1 frame per second. Is that the intention?

Played it a second time and now it is ok. Pretty impressive!

    Thanks Ivan,
Vimeo is still a little studdery on all my videos it seems compared to the original.

I still need to tweak it next time I do some slowmotion for faster or slower because my preview was not real time.

I think it also pushes peoples computers. After watching the same hd vimeo vids on many different machines and setups, there is a noticeable difference in playback quality. I

Great! So this is only 2x slowdown?
Is there a file for download, to get playback at higher framerate than the vimeo flash player ?
  • Lucasberg (Joey) plus 2 years ago
    Thanks Pasman,

Sorry it is also time stretched in vegas 7 on the final render from Im guessing between .25 speed to .45 speed . Man all these test have too many setting to remember and it was late when I uploaded it.

I don't want to have people d-load it from here, but I will have my website up again soon with all my videos.

Ah I was already amazed how much difference 2x slowdown makes!

"I don't want to have people d-load it from here, but I will have my website up again soon with all my videos."

    Why not?

I agree, a video with just the framework dunebuggy would be cool. If only there was footage from different locations on the "beast".

    Interesting concept in any case.
  • Lucasberg (Joey) plus 2 years ago
    Thanks Scott,
I will see if I have enough upload space to post the dune buggy video. I only have the one location footage but there will be more to come next time I bring it out.

What kind of mount did you use on the Dune Buggy? Looks great.
  • Lucasberg (Joey) plus 2 years ago
    Thanks,
I used a manfrotto ballhead to hold the camera and the ballhead was screwed to the buggy.

The video is very great! Loved the buggy camera mount. Was it covered against mud and sand? I think that for smoother slow-motion, you should shoot it in interlaced mode. Also try this software Realviz Retimer Pro sfx.realviz.com/products/rtpro/index.php
  • Lucasberg (Joey) plus 2 years ago
Thanks, It was not covered. It was in the very front of the buggy anf the dust and sand was way behind it.
    I'll check it out.

Very good. A little dirt in your teeth is a good thing when it involves a sand rail. This looks really good.
  • Lucasberg (Joey) plus 2 years ago
Thanks, The dirt was worth it. I cant wait to get the rail out again.

You certainly do fine work. I am using the Canon HG10, but the HV20 sure looks good! (The HG10 is cool to)
