I found out that Kat liked hula hooping after seeing her clips on Vimeo:

vimeo.com/user=missmareck/clips

She not only is good at hooping, but she makes the hoops herself. I told her I wanted one. She made one, and brought it to me at work today, for free!

Thanks, Kat!

I'm going to take a hooping lesson sometime in the next few weeks.

The isolation move is way cool. I must learn that move so I can be cool too.

Practise makes perfect, and when you look at her graceful, obviously toned body you can see that she spends plenty of time working out this way. Really fun to watch.

    Wow Kat!
    You should compete.
Maybe I will challenge you over the spring?

Oh yeah, well I can do that thing where you roll the hoop on the ground and it comes back to you. Been doing it since like elementary school.

I can never get the hoop to stay up, I always end up gyrating my hips like a complete idiot.

wow, thanks everyone! i'm glad to hear that you think (hula) hooping is rad! everyone should try it! if you think that you can't, you're most likely just trying the wrong way: it's a back and forth motion. not a gyration.

pomerac, i will have a competition if you like. something like this: http://www.vimeo.com/clip=47871?
or a different type of competition? whatever you want to do!

wow. that is a finely-honed skill. i hear hooping is a huge subculture now, and that the secret is homemade hoops out of tubing. can't wait to see more. i swear i'm on the verge of heading out to home depot tomorrow.

OH WOW!!! What a delightful breakdown for isolation! The only way I've ever ben able to do it is with one hand, which is pretty difficult to attain that perfection you so beautifully demonstrated... Nicely done! You have a killer knack for teaching this stuff! I have no idea how to explain it to people, which is frustrating! You should bang out a few more of these, and I'll give the question-askers your links! YOU ROCK!!
