The Center for Geospatial Information Technology presents this special mapping seminar: Mapping Standardized Ecosystems for the Nation and the Planet with Dr. Roger Sayre, Senior Scientist for the USGS Geographic Analysis and Monitoring Program.
Recorded Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Virginia Tech, this special seminar covers Dr. Roger Sayres recently completed work to map standardized, robust and practical ecosystems for the nation. This seminar is for individuals with interests in ecosystems modeling, ecosystem management,ecosystem goods and services assessments, impacts studies, GIS, classification, etc.
Dr. Sayre also serves as the US lead for a GEOSS (Global Earth Observation System of Systems) Task to map standardized ecosystems for the planet at spatial and thematic resolutions finer than any existing ecoregionalization. Sayre has mapped South America, the U.S., and is nearing completion for Africa. Mapping for China and Australia and have also begun.
