70. ZGrip iPhone
The first serious solution for shooting video with the iPhone 3Gs. It’s all about stability. There is far too much side to side movement when shooting with an iPhone. Many people have been asking us about developing a PRO as well as a consumer handgrip system for the iPhone.

iPhone video contests are popping up all over and the need to shoot stable video is now here. Introducing the Zgrip iPhone PRO a completely adjustable, quick releasable handgrip system for shooting professional stable video using the iPhone 3Gs. The consumer version is coming soon and will be substantially less expensive but will lose a lot of the adjustability to get to that lower price point.

The iPhone 3Gs snaps into the Zgrip and you are ready to shoot. The handgrip fully articulates, and all of the red levers allow you to adjust every angle to get those interesting, creative and smooth shots. We also, have a couple of great accessories to help you shoot better sound, lighting & more.

Watch our video and it will all become clear. The Zgrip iPhone PRO, developed by Zacuto, leading indie camera accessories maker in the professional market. All Zacuto products are designed and made in the USA and have a lifetime warranty.

That's sooo funny! I love all these iphone spoofs!
  •
  • Rick,
This one is not a spoof, this thing is really amazing to use. I've been having a ball shooting with it.

this is so absurd :D Taking away the only advantage of the cellphone camera, the size and the fact that you always have it with you. I mean its probably great but if you have the money to spend on this rig why would you use a crappy iphone camera and not a better one? This seems really funny to use and a great product but i don't see any real use to it :) Or have i missed something?

i think this is rlly cute and i might actually use it. Steve you should make something like this for the new olympus e-p1, that people would take more seriously and it's practically the same form factor of the iphone with better quality video

I just realized what it is good for and this isn't even talked about in the video. With the iphone(hacked) and the ZGrip you have a good solution for shooting but most importantly publishing video. You can shoot stable footage, edit it and the publish it on the go or even on a hacked iphone stream video live with services like Qik. It seems like a better buy if you compare the solution to a broadcasting van then a camera :)

i'm sorry but this is absurd, it's a bloody PHONE!!!!
  • It has a purpose.
Does this look like it's from a phone:
Just watch what these guys did with there iPhone, it’s astounding: vimeo.com/groups/iphone3gs/videos/5393865
And here is what they went through to make that video: vimeo.com/5430133
Sure seems like a Zgrip iPhone would have made that easier.

I admire the ingenuity and respect you and your company, but now I know for certain that the market is ridiculously over saturated :S.

Do all the Z support products require this man to man contact to operate or can those be used and adjusted by the operator alone as well? I mean without a friend or a partner that is?
You're always mutually adjusting these like an old and happy couple accustomed to eachother weirdnesses...

I mean can all those supports be adjusted alone without any fruther assistane?
  • That's just how we are. they are very easy to adjust if you are one person, that's what they are made for.

the fact that this product exists is not absurd, the fact that it costs almost $300 is. Sorry for being a jerk, but for what it does and for what it costs is just not proportionate.

I kind of like it, but I understand also, that this is actually really stupid. Wile the quality of video will not be at least that good as consumer video cameras. A specialy in not so bright scenes. Video in phones are ment to be just for personal memories, not production.. so noone actually cares about this good quality and moving possibilities.
  • That's crazy, I make videos with my iPhone mainly because they are easy and fast to upload to the internet both personal and business. Either way, I want them to have movement and be a good as anything else I can make with a real video camera. The other thing is I'm always playing around with my iPhone camera because it's fun and I learn things. I can get the camera into interesting and crazy places I can't get any other camera because of it's size.

:) well.. This is only my personal opinion of course. Maybe I'm wrong. If people really will buy this product, that will mean I'm wrong. So.. Do people buy it a lot? :)
  • Yes.

I really don't see what the big deal is, if you don't want something like this for your iphone, then don't buy it, but if you do then there's options out there like the Zgrip.
But this continuing back and forth debate seems somewhat tiresome to me! Just say, Oh well, To Each Their Own or No thanks Steve. After all Zacuto still have a lot of other great products out there! Cheers
  • Andreas Gustavsson 4 months ago
I can only speak for my self but i can admit i am discussing it because i don't really understand it. I want to know who would like to use it and why. By questioning our interest in questioning the product you do the same things as us. Just say, Oh well, To each to their own or No thanks i don't want to take part in the discussion.

I don't think any one would stop a person from buying it :). As I've said before i can see the use of it when you view the iphone as a platform but not when you just view it as a camera since it isn't that good at being a camera. It's not even close to being the best cellphone camera.

Andreas,My comments are not about being against discussing the product's usefulness and it is not directed as a jab or necessarily at anybody in particuliar. They are about the derogatory, counter productive use of an information forum starting to sound more like a kindergarten class than a professional discussion group. Perhaps You're right, maybe I should just say "No thanks i don't want to take part in this discussion,
especially If it's not going to be something of informative value. Cheers

Wow that shot of the rolling ball with the 3GS looked really nice. That'd be impossible to get without scraping your hand up or dropping your phone without this thing...that said it's a little expensive (for the iPhone)...but you get what you pay for :)

GIMME A BREAK, How many people are going to spend more for their stabalizer than they did on their phone. Just another Zacuto gouge. The least you can do is use some vaseline. Im so sick and tired of these "were there for the indie guys greed mongers" your their for your profit, you could care less about the indie movement. This is aluminum were talking about, it's not gold. this thing should be no more than $99.00
  • We have two versions, the Pro and the Jr. The consumer version is less than your $99, the Zgrip iphone Jr. is only $69

Of course we are here for profit, if we weren't we wouldn't be able to exist for very long. That's part of being a good business man. You make it out like profit is a sin or something. We 18 employees all in America and we do not make any components outside of the USA. Capitalism is based on profit. Our products are really more for shooters who do some paid work as well as indie production and we understand they are not for everyone. Our products are on par with German manufacturers at 1/2 their cost.

Why are you so angry, if it's not for you, don't buy it.
    Steve
