2009-07-12, The Game of Life - RISK: When Obedience Becomes Dangerous
4 months ago
I've never played the board game Risk, but I'm intrigued by the box. It calls Risk "the game of global domination." As I understand it, the object of the game is to conquer the world by taking calculated risks. Come to think of it, that's what being a follower of Jesus is all about, too. He is building a worldwide kingdom, and He calls us to first take the risk of believing in Him, and then to take even more risks to help expand the territory of His reign. Of course, we do so not through force, but through the more potent combination of truth and love. Still, it's a risky mission.
How do we summon the courage to step out of the kingdom of darkness? And where do we find the courage to go back into it to help more people cross the border into the kingdom of light? We know the risks involved, but what are the potential rewards? And what are the consequences of playing it safe? Those are the questions we'll find answers to in this video--not to increase our knowledge, but to prepare for invasion.
If you're up for some slight danger, watch this video.
