do you have lenses of f1.8 or around that... of both.
Can't wait to see one of this kind of test.
thanks for this one, I can clearly see a difference in the DOF even @f4.
in fact my heavy XH-A1 does the job, but I need something with again more DOF sometimes so... The G1 have a pretty okay image stabiliser and so... cheaper than good camcorder.
I'll wait, but I guess if nothing comes out better that that, this is what I'll get for sure.
It's just that I need to film around 5 to 6 hours and with the G1 or 5D... that's a lot of memory card...
Could be nice if we have an option of shooting RAW or mpeg (or better again H.264)... ;) - like RAW or jpeg for pictures.
What's the problem with that?
If we compare price than Pansonic is winner, but I tink still pictures would be really stunning from Canon. And Canon has more pixel in still pictures.
But Panasonic is giving good fight with Canon, maybe Canon will drop the price. But nothing wrong if we buy Panasonic.
cheers
Avey
The 5D is has better DOF and low-light performance, the GH1 is sharper and more digital-looking.
I choose the 5D. I wonder if Canon programmed in that film-like unsharpness? If one could switch on and off that kind of processing, the 5D would be the end-all option.
Canon 5D2 - nothing to report, asbsolutely rock solid, no artifacts any where in the picture - looks like a DSLR still shot.
Panasonic GH1... oh boy.. where do I start...
GH1: 0:0 to 0:12 - very noticeable sharpening contours in the sky - this is the low light 'mud' effect every one is talking about. Lots, and I mean lots, of dancing block artifacts in the sky. It doesnt' look good at all.
Lots of dancing blocks in the red areas of the Arizona can at both infinity and close focus.
The GH1 might be ok for viewing on small monitors, but it is bound to look very bad on a 100" projector screen.
Could you please compare a panning shot of both the 5D Mk2 and the GH1? Anything as subject, even just a wall. :)
In the hands of the wright person you can get some amazing things from the gh1 but in the hands of lest skilled people the 5d still shines.
I just got a GH1 to go along with my 5D and I must say if the two cameras could be one it would be great. They are not, and so far the 5D is a clear winner until the GH1 codec gets sorted. Plus the stills area is a no contest.
there is something very nice about the GH1 though and its feel and control, just for me the final image is what matters and its not quite there yet.
