This is a christmas music video I made for my wife using footage of our 11 month old son Gage. The video was made mostly using After Effects. The song is by Pinback.

    I was going to try and fix it first but if it's playing OK for others I will leave it. Is it playing smoothly for you?

    WOW! Very nice. And although I'm the he-man-masculine-drink-beer-eat-bacon type, it was a very emotional clip .... ummm .... or so my wife tell me.

    And by the way, now that the aforementioned wife saw the video she says I have to stop drinking beer and eating bacon because she wants a baby...great, thanks, really appreciate it :)

    Seriously, that was a wonderful video. Kid's cute too!

    Just so you know, lots of beer was used in the making of the video, so when you are forced to have children you can lock yourself away and get drunk while you make videos!

    Also, I knew some "he-man-masculine-drink-beer-eat-bacon types" would eventualy be viewing the video, so I hid a naked woman in it. It's kind of hard to find unless you know exactly where to look! HINT: It appears twice between 2:26/2:38! HAPPY HUNTING!

    I wish I was in filmmaking! Instead I make paper-towels at a huge, bleak, depressing factory....well, it's not actually that bad!

    My hope is to build a portfolio and perhaps get into filmmaking someday though, so this is really the beginning of that journey since I only just got my camera!

    Geesh.... The only problem with the video is, How you going to top that?

    It is great, fabulous! I read every post, they all pretty much express my opinion.

    I am truly awestruck.

    I can remember my kids and grand kids when they were that age... Your video just brings back good memories to me.

    I think it was about 3 weeks of fiddling with it whenever I got the time, which wasn't too often and yes, you had to pack a lunch for the rendering.

    Yes, I learned mostly through online tutorials and AE's included 'help' features.

    I also bought a couple of books, but found that I never really used them.

    That video was truly amazing. So amazing, that I bought the Canon HV20 online right on the spot after seeing your video (I realized I have AfterEffects already installed, and did some quick research on the HV20 which yielded great results juxtaposed to other cameras).

    This will be my first camcorder ever, but I hope to create something half as cool as your inspiring video of your son.

    Also, I really liked the song. Whats the title/name of the Pinback song ?

    You won't be disappointed with the HV20, it's great. I don't know if you stumbled across this website yet, but there's a lot of useful information about it here:

    The song used in the video is "Good to Sea" and it's off of thier latest album "Autumn of the Seraphs". A lot of thier music has a similar sound, but I really like it and have purchased most of thier albums.
