Jan 4, 2008. This is filmed at the TicoWind windsurf site. Nobody managed to succesfully windsurf or kiteboard that day. Dani went out with a 4 m kite and immediately lost his board. This is the only day in ten years at Lake Arenal that I did not try to sail because of high winds. Estimates are 45-75 mph at the lake level. At the windmills on the surrounding hills a peak gust was registered at 116 mph. Highest ever recorded here. Three of the windmills were toppled. To get to the site I had to cut through two trees that were uprooted by the storm. Fortunately I always have a tow strap and a machete in the truck.
