I attempted a "remake" of Jean-Luc Godard's 1975 film, Numéro deux. In my version, I present two television sets facing each other, each with a looped video. The loops, being of different lengths, create different versions of the whole with each view. The first screen presents a woman dancing, in the second screen, I adjust lamps beside my head and speak the words presented here. Numéro deux is a film about a lower-middle class family in a social housing complex in France. A central theme of the movie treats the concept of landscapes and factories, particularly in terms of bodies. For example, is a woman's body a landscape or a factory? I took this concept and applied it to the landscapes around me that have been altered by human activity - highways, clearcuts, large factories. I also ask whether a filmed object is a factory, in the sense that in filming, we demand that an image creates meaning or significance.
