This is a music video for the song "Secret" by Mieka Pauley that I directed and shot.

In a world that seems all to often flooded with music, I think Mieka rises right to the top with a voice that can be both tough and sweet in the same moment.

You can check out her new album, Elijah Drop Your Gun, here:

Mieka's site is here:

Cheers!

  • The melody, the lyrics, Mieka's voice...they'd all still manage to make even the slimmest video accompaniment something worth watching. This is a nice counterpoint to the song, adding to its already considerable strengths. Never having had the chance to see her perform...other than some YouTube clips...it was great to watch her unadorned, in a filmic arena. Looking forward to more videos down the road. Congrats to all those involved!

    Sweet.

What did you use for the crane shots? A crane perhaps?

    Nice clip!
Why is the key suddenly small at the end?

I feel bound to mention that it's not really my kind of music, but notwithstanding I think you did a really creative and slick job with this video. In contrast to the other commenters here, I felt that it really multi-dimensionalised an otherwise rather straightforward 'love song'.

I love the mix of slow and full motion, the pyrotechnics in the ruined building and the windy shots are great too!

    Keep up the good work,

    Appreciate the comments everyone.
The overhead shots were done with a jib and pan / tilt head.
As far as the key getting smaller....not quite sure why, I guess when I came up with the giant giving her the the key I figured it just needed to get smaller again...

I enjoyed this - my favourite shots are of the guy making the key, and of the furnace - the sparks and grittiness really work in slow motion.

enjoyable-- nice camera work especially. Nice to see a piece with some content that was given some thought- content is so often overlooked! good job.
