Nice. So many people have said that it looks like a nuke went off in the foothills. What did you use to do the time-lapse?

I wanted to do this today as well, but my apt doesn't technically allow for roof access, but I did manage a couple good quick shots of the same area

gracias, I'm glad someone setup a tripod and timelapse. Your used your nikon for the stills and then video software??

Great job on the time-lapse! You found a nice location and got an outstanding result.

You live really close to me :) I took some video and snaps with my 5d2 but no time lapse. do you use a trigger or software like dragon?
  • Eric Spiegelman plus 3 months ago
Nope! The D5000 has a built in intervalometer. I just used Quicktime to stitch the images together. Embarrassingly low-tech, I know -- but this and the other one are my first Time Lapses.

right on. check this software out sometime- dragonstopmotion.com/ it's really neat, many advanced features if you want to do anything more technical.

I grew up in La Crescenta right up against the Angeles National Forest. My mom still lives there. Thanks for this amazing time lapse; don't know why it helps to actually see it in motion, but it does. Your video without a news anchor commentary is great!!

What a nightmare. I see Magic Mountain is next, and maybe Mount Wilson. I hope it does not get all the way to Mount Waterman and beyond! Arrgh!

I was just up there the week before and thought about how bad a fire would be. There's nothing up there and no where to run. I dig the time lapse. Cool with an HD cam too.
