Eastern Thinking Exhibition: Celebrate London's East End (PT.1)
The past decade has seen the continual rise of East London as a creative hub, layered with cultural diversity. The area around Andaz London has emerged as a hip and eclectic map of hidden streets and intriguing locations. Eastern Thinking celebrates this, and takes you on a tour of personal discovery and interpretation.
Eastern Thinking is a new and permanent exhibition within the spaces of Andaz London. The collaboration between hotel and local creative luminaries bring to life the essence of London's vivacious East End. Public are invited to view the work while exploring the new hotel offerings.
Each contributor was asked to create a quote based on personal engagements and experience of living or working within the EC and E2 postcodes. As a collaborative partner, Andaz London becomes hosts to these bespoke stories of local culture, community and surroundings.
The quotes have been designed into the fabric of the building. Some subtle and some more obvious - all positioned and designed with the aesthetics of the hotel space in mind. To accompany each quote, a short film has been created around its conception, focusing on the emotions, which lie behind its rationale. These films will be shown on Guest room televisions, hotel public spaces and online. Further explanation and imagery is displayed next to each quote.
Contributors include: Jonny Woo Drag Cabaret Artist, Peter Newman Artist and Sculptor, Jason Bruges Interactive Creative Design, Barber Osgerby Furniture and Interior Designers,
Jo Hunter Vexed Generation Fashion Designer, Joss McKinley Artist and Photographer, Danny Sangra Fashion Illustrator, Hannah Martin Luxury Jewellery Designer, Checkinit Art Direction and Trend-Forecasting Agency, Jam Art Design and Brand Expression Creative Group
