Beautifully photographed - it is amazing how large their wings are compared to body size. How did you get so close to them? There were several hundred of them near Market Drayton last summer, but I couldn't get any closer than 50 yards away with my camera.

Many thanks for your feedback. The only way I could get close enough was by using a hide.

...and a lot of time and patience I should think...

A great film John - I love those little peewits.

Any chance of you making a crested grebe video in the next few months?

It may be possible. I know the location of a nesting site but the nest already completed and therefore I have probably missed the courtship display. Not an easy location to place a hide. Let me know if you know of a suitable location in your area.

I'll have a look on Tittenley Pool near Adderley a few miles north of Market Drayton tomorrow - there was a pair of grebes and a youngster on the Pool last year, not sure about nest sites, but they might be courting.
I'll let you know and maybe, if I am lucky with my camera, get a short video of them uploaded at the same time.

Think I might just upload a few video frames from last year now....

Take care and speak to you soon, Nigel.

I've been to the Pool today, no sign of any grebes unfortunately, but plenty of tufted and mallard ducks, canada geese and coots - the mallards look as if they are pairing up.

I'll let you know when the grebes appear, Nigel.

Another bouquet here from one of your Staffordshire neighbours.

Isn't it so often that when a person is elected to office, that they very soon forget the basic essentials of life, the importance of harmony between the human and their cohabitants of this planet.

The result is that us humans are forever pushing forward into habitats that are best suited for our fellow residents.

    Ah well!

Lapwings are one of my favourite birds, they are so colourful in some lights. You have nicely managed to film a big flock on them together. The video seems to have some interlacing problems?

Kunter, Many thanks for your comments. Sorry about the interlacing problems - not sure what I did wrong. Will try and film them again early in the New Year.
