I just returned from AfrikaBurn, South Africa's version of burning man (still small - 2000 or so people - but growing every year and still young! Only 3 years old) which was mindblowing and inspiring.
Thanks for sharing this!
Looking forward to watching more!
I'm from NV. & familiar w/ The Burning Man, have not been, but I'm sure it is a Magical Experience, thank~you for the fabulous footage !
AMAZE!!!
My favorite shots are the Temple falling and the view from the pirate ship!
Hope to see you at Metropolis!

We were both in tears at the end.
Like stated above: this is best capture of the FEEL going into the city's night.
The packing, driving, set-up, survival part is something else, but what you've captured here: the art, the scale, the different-journey-ever-night adventure of going into the city's night... so well done.
The best advice I can give you is to just get out there and try it, the problems and how to solve them will become self evident.
For people who want to try time lapse cheaply, the free program Stereo Data Maker can be used to take time lapse pictures with most Canon point and shoot cameras - IA google search will find the program. It is mostly intended for people who shoot stereo with two cameras but it works fine with one - For most Stereo Data Maker functions, you need a supported camera, plus a switch and a battery pack producing 4.5 volts and a USB cable, but I don't believe they are necessary to do time lapse. When you get your time lapse files (individual jpg files) they can be turned into a movie with programs such as Quick Time Pro.
Just keep lens changes to a minimum and use the self sensor cleaning function. I even at one point cleaned my sensor while I was out there without introducing worse dust.
Regarding doing time lapse cheaply - I had bad results with quicktime pro. It has some funky memory requirements that cause it to crash when doing large sequences at high resolution. I think a better cheap solution is shooting in jpeg mode and using virtualdub (it's free) to post process. You can also buy intervalometers for very cheap (< $50) if you just get the cheap knock offs (which in many cases have better functionality than the $200 canon one).
And I was very much surprised to actually recognize myself on the pirate bus. I recognized my shirt actually, then the glasses, then the handsome face.. but I digress. :P
Wow.. very great job Sir. Thanks!
Did you shoot the timelapse images in full RAW or in a smaller RAW mode? What program do you use to construct the timelapses?
I did a couple this year, but nothing as spectacular as this. Gives me inspiration for the next burn!
I shot most of this as SRAW1 and post processed with Adobe After Effects.
The song is based on Halcyon by Orbital in 1992...I'm guessing, since it sounds a lot like it and has a similar name. You can check out the original song out there on the web.
