See all Show me
A beautiful winter day brought out the crowds to watch the teams carve their art out of a pillar of snow. What results is a wonderful day watching some very creative people at work.

This was shot using a Canon XH A1 and edited using Premier Pro CS3. Titles were done in After Effects.

Shooting in an extremely high contrast environment creates some interesting challenges both behind the camera and in post. I'm pleased with how it came out and I hope you are too.

Comments always welcome! Tell me what you think.

very nice editing, and awesome quality. i'm thinking about getting an xh a1 myself for documentaries and advertising clips. can you recommend it?

Martin, Thanks! I would recommend it, but I'm biased. I knew some people who had XL1s and loved them so I went with Canon. I've not used any other HDV cameras except a little HV10. I like all the manual controls, although some cameras have more, but they are a lot pricier.

There are two very good sources for XH A1 info online. dvxuser.com and dvinfo.com. Each has a sub-forum for the camera.

A final thought. If you're near a decent sized city, you might want to rent one for a day just to try it out.
