South Mountain Park Rock Art
800-1,200 years ago, the ancient Hohokam Indians inhabited the Salt River Valley in south-central Arizona. The Hohokam pecked and etched thousands of drawings onto rocks and boulders. Many of the petroglyphs, commonly known as rock art, can be found in South Mountain Park overlooking the city of Phoenix. I shot this video sampling of the rock art with my Canon HG10 on a recent hike in South Mountain Park. I've also included at the end of the video still photos of rock art taken from past South Mountain Park hikes.
