Wow, great light and filmlook. What additional equipment did you use? 35mm adapter, external mic...? How did you organize the lamps and what mode did you record with? :) Sorry for so many questions, but your filmlook is brilliant.

Thanks for the feedback. To answer your questions in order: No adapter, audio was recorded on condenser mic right into a laptop, rooms were lit by a combination of two Lowel light kits, and was shot in 24p and 60i. The 60i was turned into 24p in post to create slow motion.

And what about the shutter, aperture, cine-or-not etc.? :)
  • Moj 5 months ago
Shutter was 1/48...maybe 1/40 if light was really low, aperture was between 1.8 and 2.8 inside, 5.6 outside. Cine mode was on with image effect on vivid.

wow that looks fantastic! very cool, at first i thought the fill light was a bit weak but i guess the strong key adds nicely to the drama and intensity! really good stuff :D

Nice. I liked the lighting. Wish the story was developed a litle more...but I did enjoy it.

Was that really a HV20? Credits has to go to your cinematographer and cast. Well done with the lighting and the use of light. Especially the candle scene and the bathroom. I had trouble with the audio at certain times and the score was briliant.

Which Lowel light kits do you have. I really liked the lighting. Nice and soft but with lots of good contrast.

We used the Tota and VIP kit. Glad you liked

Where did you get that cover of Paramore? I tried googling it but didn't find anything. I love the original and I'm a sucker for cover songs.

Beautiful looking video though! Agh, I want a HV20 so bad.

Very well shot, looks fantastic, also nice opening titles.

A boom for sound would have helped, and overall sound design/Foley would have been a real plus, would add a whole new level to a very good short.

Agreed. Because of time restraints we had to use most of the audio captured on set. We had a terrible humming noise coming from outside and therefore had to cut all of the low end frequencies. We were able to do some ADR when it was time to record voice overs...but go figure the room we did that in had a hum as well...not as bad though.

Nice work, powerful little cameras are the best. I shoot on a Sony HDR-HC1.

    Could you explain pulldown removal?
  • Moj 5 months ago
It is removing interlacing to give you 24 progressive frames a second.

In the middle the music was a little too loud compared to the actors. Couldn't quite make out what they were saying.
