This is the third in a series of college counseling workshops intended to inform parents and students of the many details inherent in the college selection and application process. In this presentation we will discuss the major components of financial aid and the steps required in this sometimes mysterious process. In a PowerPoint presentation we will learn about financial need, merit aid, sources of scholarships, and hopefully provide you with a variety of financial tips which will help you as you apply to college. We will conclude with an interview of Ms. Lina Johnson, one of the financial aid officers at Cal State Monterey Bay who will provide us with some insight on these matters from the college side.” In other 60 minute presentations we will provide detailed information about most aspects of the selection and application process including information on the public institutions in California, standardized testing, , athletic recruiting and scholarships, investigating sources, choosing colleges, writing the personal statement/college essay, and visiting colleges.
