An overview of the festivities of WMPG's 13th annual Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras event that took place a short walk away from the actual station location in the Student Activities Center of the University of Southern Maine, in Portland.
A series of DJs hosted the event spinning NOLA music and taking requests from listeners.

The event used to be held @ the station , which can no longer house the crowds adequately. hundreds of people showed up, many sampled the offerings of local Cajun cooking talents. there was live music, raffles, lots of food to sample, the biggest benefit was seeing old friends and meeting new listeners alike. Some of the university students were selling beads to fund an alternative vacation, where funds raised went to a contingent of students to go down to NOLA and work on a HABITAT for HUMANITY house being built for a family who lost everything, now that's cool.

Community radio WMPG has been on the air since 1973.
