Very fun. Love the style and feel. Great how you can give personalities to non-living objects.

    Awesome work! Really enjoyed it!!!

Only one thing: give credit to the music makers/singers, the software you made the animation with and, if you used them, the sources of your textures and sounds! That's important.

    Cheers!!!

That is really amazing. I think anthropomorphic animation is one of the most difficult to pull off, but you did it beautifully.

Did you do all of the barrel anims with just bones and morphs?

    5/5 stars.

    Please do another.

That's a great piece of work there. It would be interesting to know how much time you have in it.

    Thanks for the comments everybody!
Leonardo: you are right, so I will mention it here: The end song is 'Le Festin' by Camille. All other sounds are from Istock or created by me (all modified in audacity). I used Blender for all 3d work, Premiere for sequencing. Only one image was used (for the banana), that was created by me in photoshop.

Gnaws: I used bones and a lattice to animate the Barrel. I didn't use any shape keys (morphs).

Noah: For the telescope effect I parented the objects to bones and scaled them.

OnjoFilms: This took me about 5-6 weeks to make.

I was trying to understand just what made this vid so compelling and entertaining. It was such a simple plot! There were many subtle things that held my attention very firmly, most of them quite subtle.

Do you have any advice on making animations fun to watch??

Hi Lyle, There are many things that make animations fun to watch.
I think it is very important to make sure things move in a fun way, the best way to ensure this is by following the 12 basic principles of animation (which I am still learning).
It's also important to make sure things move swiftly, and not to show a shot for too long if nothing is happening, or the viewer might get bored.
There are also many other things like color, sound, cam angles, cam movement etc but I am no expert (yet!) and still have a lot to learn in all those aspects. I learned a lot from making this animation and there are already many things I would do differently now.

  • Odd story... But very well done!!
The machine transformation is the best!
    Congratulations!

  • How did you get the ground to crack like that?
  • phlopper 1 month ago
Hi Richard, I actually made a tutorial for the cracks, which I uploaded on youtube a few days ago, but it wasn't very good quality (youtube.com/watch?v=nT0KGA4Y_uo). I just finished making the new one today, it's here in my videos:

This is my first video tutorial ever, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
