    Wow.

    What's your set up?
  • Mike Senese 4 months ago
    Thanks.

Did this with a Nikon D80, 10.5mm lens, and five days holed up on the 26th floor of the Sahara hotel.

I compiled the shots with Quicktime.
For some angles I ran a photoshop script to crop a tighter shot from the large frame.

  • I love the wide angle look on these shots.

There's also something about the shots with the cranes in the background that resemble insects working. Weird....but cool. :) Nice job

Great video. Did you use any software for saving the images onto a PC after they're captured like Nikon Camera Control?
  • Mike Senese 4 months ago
Thanks Miles. The Camera Control software actually lets you specify a folder on your computer to have it saved to automatically as each shot is taken.

Some great shots in there. Very interesting. Looks like you might need to lock down your lens to manual focus, though?

Thanks Tom--appreciate the comment. The start of a few shots show some jumpiness and focus issues as I got the settings dialed in. Initially I planned on cropping them out but when I previewed it with the song I liked the asthetic-it reminded me of old 8mm film stock. So I decided to keep it...

    5 Days?
Long time for a few minutes of movie.. but it's worth it.
  • Mike Senese 4 months ago
Thanks Kruzer--I took the best parts to make the video. I had to be there anyways, so yeah, it was worth it to me too!

Your lens is great and the quality is amazing. I bet that took alot of tape, and u did this with just a camera not camcorder?

so how much hard drive space did you go through shooting this. been trying to get an idea on what all i should buy to do a several day shoot.
  • Mike Senese 4 months ago
I think I burned through 35gb of space. At one poing I made an adjustment so the photo size wouldn't be so large, but later on I regretted that because it gave me less flexibility. Since then I've bought a 1TB firewire drive. You'd want something big to do a multi-day shot. I primarily was just shooting sunrises and the moon...
