Movable structures so large that I can plainly see them from my house 20 kilometers from the shipyard in Rotterdam. They are *elongating* the legs of the already 268 meters high structure.
The other superstructure, well google the label on its side. Second largest on the world in its class. The *rotating* booms are 140 meters long and each have a 15.600 hp engine.

No your monitor and speakers are not broken ;-) I tried to embed the ambience on the shipyard and needed a bit unusual settings. Nevertheless it seems like I'm trying to explain a smell by using video or so, I'm talking the wrong dimension here. Dunno, any tips are appreciated!

w,wow... I love it... only thing I can think of to comment is that you should take control over the exposure during the daytime-shots...

    Glad that you like it!

I am checking the exposure issue you mention. Usually I'm pretty careful about exposure and check and correct in post. Can you point out what and at what places particularly the exposure went wrong?
Maybe you mean the fragment at 3:17. Yes I had a hard time, as I was shooting right into the sun. I had not much choice to do otherwise, unless I would have gone back another day to complete the shooting. I tried to turn this into my advantage and make the structure look darker, but I had to turn on the auto exposure there because I had no more free hands during the steadicam shot on the bike.... and lacking one pair of eyes already..

Great piece, those things are huge!
Early on in the video, were you using camera shake reduction in post? I thought I saw the edges of the picture moving around a little with the sky painted in behind them.
  • w.pasman 5 months ago
Yes, used shake reduction, I used a tripod but at max zoom the image starts vibrating even if you move your feet. I don't generally like an extra zoom so I used a background color to fill the holes created with the shake reduction.

I know that in After Effects you can 'mirror' the edges of the picture so that it doesn't look so obvious.
Andrew Kramer uses it in this tutorial: videocopilot.net/tutorials.html?id=55
if you have After Effects it might be worth a look!

Great idea, thanks for that! I checked your link, great explanation. No I don't have after effects. But I think Final cut will have such a mirror thing, or otherwise I guess I'm pretty sure I can write an FXScript plugin doing that for me.
