Thanks Sugoi,

Yes it needed the moon to enter from the bottom of the frame, in a blaze of light, then exit from the top of the frame leaving perhaps just a reflection of fading light in the clouds.

Hope this experiment encourages others to try something similar - I will try it again when the conditions are right. Cheers 4Moorhens2.
