I've been missing/out of contact/busy/going through not happy times lately.
After grad school today, I decided to spend some time in the park.
Now, I'm glad I did.
This is dedicated to you. Because I care about you. But mostly, because you are human too and you mean more to me than you will ever know.

what if Jesus comes back first?
I grew up, got married, had a baby, found the cure for cancer, survived world war 3, and ate every single kind of pasta in the world and this video is still not converted.

Oh and I uploaded a vid last night and it said 340 minutes! Which, compared to your 650...sounds less insane, but still!
it's alright though.
Set it and forget it!
:-)
Speaking of which, I'm going to hit you back in a couple minutes...
I will message you in a second.
This was wonderful.
i'll e-love you always
Great track.
I think that moment of revelation was more for myself than for you.
I'm glad that you were able to take some time out and take in what was at the playground. We all needed this, even though we didn't know it.
Wonderful is Karen.
Karen is Wonderful.
beep beep boop boop
You've done a beautiful thing.
also i had pizza for tea.
Plus, art is so subjective, chances are, someone's going to hate your work. I've come across so many emails from people telling me that my work sucked, or that I should probably give up filmmaking. (no lie). This is in regards to my more serious work, not little exercises like this. This is more like a Video log type post. Nothing too substantial. My thing is, I do what I do because I love it not because I try to impress anyone or try to make anyone believe I'm someone who I'm not. I do it because I care about the process and the collaboration, the community of filmmaking as a whole. But for every person that hates your work, there's a handful of people who really care about what you tried to do.
My intent was to take a break from my busy schedule and life and go to the park to play. So I think I accomplished that much.
:-)
Look forward to seeing your work.
Thank you for hugs.
I love friends like you.
<3
I'm getting so sick of this snow.
(does it sound crazy ? :D)
thank you for this :))
oh, and I just loved the song, i didn't know Patrick Watson, i'm glad I do, now.
And I'm glad to know you too :))
Thank you for being really awesome!
Does Capucine draw dinosaurs?
do you have a specific name for kids' first drawings (like when they still attach arms and legs to the heads of the people ? we call them "tadpole men" but i don't know how to call it in english. anyways, that's the stage she's reached so far :D
And everything WILL be ok :)
People here are so loving and caring, and it goes beyond videos. You develop a deep and meaningful relationship with the people and you start communicating through messages, email, or instant messenger. Whenever any of us has problems, whether it be technical with cameras, video, editing, etc or emotional and personal, we are really supportive of one another.
I look forward to checking out some of your clips. Take care.
And really,
thank you very much.
:-)
Karen.
Haha. Actually I am doing 3 of my graduate course classes online, so my email box is usually always up and alerts me when I get comments. Haha. But usually I get back to people within a couple hours.
I'm on my way out to shoot something for fun. I just wanted to retort your response. Hahha. Take care Mr. Parmer.
Cotton candy clouds.
your videos are like this unexplainable...visual like poetry that no one can ever quite put into words on how beautiful they are
but yet, everyone understands
yea that kinda didnt come out the way i wanted it to, but i think you know what i mean haha. great job!
Thank you so much for being a ray of sunshine to our dark worlds.
Hahah.
this is so sensitive. packed with love and a huge heart.
i love when films are the way that you want to print out every single frame and put it up your walls, you know what i mean? i notice that you use grass a lot and your grass seems to be alot greener than mine ;-)
in other words. i love this one.
I don know what you mean about printing frames and putting them on your wall..I think that's part of the appeal with working with film...when I make things on 16mm in school I have the work print and the negatives and I can string them on my window and it's so nice to see a burst of color from images I've captures. I also do that with medium format film you can see here:
photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6022/505/1600/CIMG0016.jpg
But yeah color correction makes a huge difference in making your images appear more like what they do in real life.
Look at this:

(this is in regards to this film vimeo.com/439711 and the secondary color correction that I did to it 2 months after I turned in the project)
That is so true. (Not referring to myself) But there are some AMAZING filmmakers on Vimeo. But more importantly, there is a great community here and that's what I love so much. Thank you so much for taking the time out to watch my video.
Your underwater footage is so unreal and beautiful!

hee hee.
I love parks a lot. Do you go outside a lot?
:-)
It makes me wish I had more free time.
Thanks!
hahaha.
That light tint of blue on the dandelion and the greenish surrounding is beautiful.
and I've been meaning to say this a few times...but kept viewing videos.
I have to stop at this one and finally write the damn comment.
the style of your films are fucking amazing. I can't put my finger on it, or figure out exactly what it is, but i love them.
haha I have no idea what it is either. Honestly majority of these videos, unless stated otherwise (like for school or a film festival) are just arbitrary meditations of environments around me. I live in such a craphole town that I have to find things like shooting random places to keep me busy. I think the main thing is that I am trying really hard to appreciate what little I have whether it be with my surroundings, circumstances, or crappy equipment.
I don't want to rely on having a bazillion dollar camera (thought it would be nice) to get nice shots...it's totally possible with my $300 camcorder.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, that when you shoot to "feel" (wow i don't even think that made sense) and focus on the moment and the environment and not worry about what the end product will look like, you achieve something more organic that people can somehow relate to and enjoy.
I never know what my videos will turn out like until I hit the export button and watch them. They usually look grotesque when they are first captured into whatever I edit with.
Final Summation: Shoot for the moment, shoot for yourself and what you "feel."
Thanks again for your kind words.
