3. Frames and Panels - Ep. 1: Kavalier & Latex
4 months ago
My friend Hugo Milestone asked me to post his video blog on vimeo for him (he has a hard time with computers), so here it is. He says that there should be more entries coming soon.

The title of the episode, Kavalier & Latex, is in reference to Michael Chabon's The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, only Mr. Milestone claims he is made mostly of foam latex. He tells me this is, somehow, a joke.

Character design, music, and animation are done by "the evil villain." Again, his words.

I love the personality you gave to this guy! Animation is such a long process that sometimes it's difficult to keep the performance feeling spontaneous and fresh, but that's exactly what you've done here. It's a cool angle that he is just a regular guy who happens to be 1000% smaller than everyone else (if he has ever seen anyone else) and is totally unaware that he is a puppet made of clay.

This is a very natural feeling film, where you just buy the character as alive and fall into his situation and story, enjoying rather than judging or critiquing the job done in animation. Excellent work!

Great job, Tony. Of course a stop motion puppet's greatest villain would be the Puppeteer. More please, and soon.

This is ridiculously good! The part where he's trying to type on the keyboard is so adorable. Tell Hugo that I said good luck in figuring out this 'evil villain' !
